Ilene Milgram and her children shared the lives of Casey and Sparky for the past 16 years.  Sparky passed away on March 18 and Casey, almost as though she simply didn’t want to go on without her longtime companion, passed on March 26.  Both were very beautiful, loving dogs who left big paw prints on the hearts of everyone who knew and loved them.  Kevin, their daily dog walker, as well as Leader of the Pack’s Karen, Chris and Cheyenne all had the pleasure of getting to know Casey, Sparky, and Ilene.  We will all miss them very much.

On the hottest of days and the going is tough, lay down on a sprinkler
and let the water spray on your face and body.
Pick only the ripest of tomatoes and eat them with abandon.
Nothing is as important as a walk in the woods.
Be loyal to those you love.
When someone motions for you to come closer, come closer.
Sometimes eating poop is necessary and even nutritious.
Moan when something feels good.
Never let your pain obscure moments of pure joy.
If you can lick your penis, well....why not?
Don’t ever bite hard, though you might have to nip to make a point.
If you’re being ignored, bark louder.
If you step in your own pee, it’s ok to pretend you didn’t.
When you have nightmares, let someone you love wake you and hold you.
When it is time to leave this world, let those you love hold you, look into your eyes
    and say goodbye.
Coty was adopted from the Evanston Animal Shelter in June of 1993 when he was approximately 6 months old.  Legend has it he wandered in to the Emergency Room at St. Frances Hospital in Evanston and was brought to the shelter.  they named him Randall, but Jeff and bill changed his name back to what they knew it must’ve been,“Coty”, when he was adopted.  Coty left the earth on November 17. 2008 at the age of 16.  He was and is surrounded by love.  He will be missed by animal and people-friends alike, though he will always be in all of our hearts.

Thank you for your kind words and your support as we said goodbye to our very dear friend, Coty.

Much love,
Jeff, Bill, and Luna
